With construction sites of all shapes and sizes across the country, Beard struggled to find a one-size-fits-all solution for company-wide connectivity. Each site came with unique requirements influenced by factors like location, project duration, site topology, and the setup of offices and buildings. Like many construction firms, Beard couldn’t afford downtime and reliable connectivity was essential. From zoos and primary schools to luxury car showrooms and leisure facilities, no two Beard sites were alike. UK Connect’s challenge was to deliver a flexible, scalable solution that could adapt to a wide range of use cases.
In total, Beard needed to connect 60 sites, all at different stages of construction, most comprising temporary cabins and site accommodation units.
UK Connect began by thoroughly assessing the unique needs of each Beard construction site, taking into account the many variables that influence on-site connectivity. Based on these insights, we delivered a range of fixed wireless access solutions designed to suit different budgets—featuring the high-performance Ericsson R1900 among the options. Collaboration was key: we worked closely with Beard to ensure each deployment was flexible and future-ready. Regular reviews allowed for seamless upgrades and the integration of emerging technologies as new requirements arose—ensuring their sites remained connected, efficient, and ahead of the curve.
As a busy organisation, it was essential that Beard were able to access 24/7 support when needed, and weren’t hampered by onerous or labourious tasks such as billing and finance. A simplified billing system helped Beard move through costing activities with ease, delivering a true end-to-end service from specification all the way through to delivery and beyond.
